Voice Over
Steve Carlson brings to his work over 35 years experience in the film industry where he built enviable acting and writing careers, as well as performing in over 600 commercials. Audiobook-wise, he is well past the 100 audiobook mark, is an Audible Approved Producer and many of his audiobooks have gone to Best Seller status. With his own studio and acting background, it's a perfect fit.
Through the years he has also supplied VO for some of the largest companies in the country. To name a very few: IBM, Scope, RCA, Toyota, Apple, Bose Speakers, Princess Cruises and Dial Soap ("Arn't you glad you used Dial? ... Don't you wish everybody did?")
Currently, life finds Steve in So. Oregon where he is a semi-retired actor, itinerant writer and, of course, VO guy.
Here's a nice note Steve got from his author, Gene Doucette
For your website credit reel, The Spaceship Next Door hit #1 overall in Audiobooks on Amazon at around 11 AM on Friday and stayed there for about 26 hours. It's still holding top 20 this morning.
Audible has a thing called "daily deals" in which they mark down and promote one book per day. Over 8600 people downloaded a copy for $3.99 on Friday. So you're now the narrator of a best-seller.
Also of note, so far as I can tell, TSND is the only book up there with an ACX narration instead of one of the studio jobs.
From THE BLOOD TREE
The narrator, Steve Carlson, provides a strong performance while vividly portraying the nature of each character. Carlson also speaks in a clear and concise manner allowing the listener to follow the story closely and accurately. His tonal inflections were spot on!
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
The narrator, Steve Carlson, does an excellent job of slipping into each character and projecting the intense emotions, mental explorations, and the doubt one faces as one is growing older. With each word, sigh, and pause, he communicated all these thoughts and feelings clearly. By the end, I felt I knew each of the main characters intimately. He used different voices for each character and did so consistently and with ease.
